दिल्ली सरकार राजधानी के लोगों के लिए एक बहुत बड़ा और शानदार तोहफा लेकर आ रही है। अब दिल्लीवासी भी गोवा और मुंबई की तरह अपनी ही यमुना नदी में क्रूज का आनंद ले सकेंगे। दिल्ली सरकार की इस महत्वाकांक्षी योजना पर तेजी से काम चल रहा है और उम्मीद है कि इसी साल नवंबर महीने से यह सेवा आम लोगों के लिए शुरू कर दी जाएगी। यह क्रूज सेवा यमुना नदी को पुनर्जीवित करने और दिल्ली में पर्यटन को एक नए स्तर पर ले जाने के सरकारी प्रयासों का एक महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है।
इस प्रोजेक्ट के तहत, वजीराबाद बैराज (सोनिया विहार) से लेकर जगतपुर (शनि मंदिर) तक यमुना के लगभग 8 किलोमीटर के हिस्से को विकसित किया गया है। इस योजना को हकीकत में बदलने के लिए पांच बड़ी सरकारी एजेंसियों ने मिलकर एक समझौता ज्ञापन (MOU) पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं, जिनमें भारतीय अंतर्देशीय जलमार्ग प्राधिकरण (IWAI), दिल्ली विकास प्राधिकरण (DDA), दिल्ली जल बोर्ड (DJB), दिल्ली पर्यटन एवं परिवहन विकास निगम (DTTDC) और सिंचाई एवं बाढ़ नियंत्रण विभाग शामिल हैं।
